How can Autism be Detected?

No lab test or x-ray can confirm the diagnosis of autism. The diagnosis of autism is based on a specialist observing the individual’s behavior. They follow a checklist called CHAT. CHAT stands for checklist for Autism in toddlers. Also a lot of info of unusual behaviors is needed form the family to confirm the diagnosis. That is for young children. These test do not diagnose Autism over 5. Another autism test is ADOS. That stands for Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule. For older children they are asked to respond to questions or commands called the autism screening question air. These programs may needed to be done several times to insure accuracy.

Treatment

There is no cure for autism Most parents will work with a service coordinator to figure out what program will work out best for them Many parent will put there children through an early intervention program. This often times involves intense speech. Occupational and physical therapy. This can sometimes even improve there social skills. One thing to help with there sensory issues you can use Wilbarger brush. It also calms them down by relaxing the muscles. Another thing is you can use a PECS. That stands for picture exchange communication system. Since most autistic kids have minimal communication, Picture is a great way for them to express there wants or needs.

Jacob was tested at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester. The office is called Kirsh Developmental Center. He see's Dr. Sulkes. Jacob participated in autism study with Tristam Smith at the University of Rochester also. Jacob did a program called ABA-Applied Behavior Analysis for 2 years with Tristram Smith during pre-school. Which the study was based on.

A interesting video on You Tube I found on Autism and Mercury. This is one
