Symptoms/How it effects the body
Symptoms are not the same for every child since each child is different and there are severities of this disorder. Some symptoms may include but are not limited to:
Social/Communication
1.)Lack of Communication - They don’t develop there speech at a normal rate.
In fact they are severely delayed.
2.)Lack of body language-does not use a lot of eye contact, facial expressions or gestures.
3.)Preferring to be alone/difficulty interacting with other people and making friends. Also has an abnormal social play.
4.) Does not like to show affection such as hugging or cuddling.
5.) Not responding to verbal cues (sometimes acting as it deaf)
6.)Difficultie expressing needs or wants
7.)Repeating words and phrases randomly or when spoken to
Restrictive Intrests, behaviors,and activities
1.) Insisting on following a routine
2.)Repetitive body movement (stimming, hand flapping, rocking ect.) and/ or abnormal postures.
3.) fascinated with repetitive movement ex.- spinning wheels, turning on and off lights, toy trains going around a circle track.
4.)Photographic memory
Neurological Functions
1.)Seizures may develop in 25-35% of children with autism and will be resistant to treatment. Seizures occurs in early child hood and again adolescence.
2.) Some fine motor development may be developed in some children more then others
3.)A lot of sensory issues, sometimes they don’t want to be touched.
Behavioral Symptoms
1.)Aggressiveness toward other people, or can be self injurious
2.)Either laid back or can be very energetic
3.)Throws more temper tantrums then the average child
4.)Short intension span
5.) Doesn’t like to sit for very long and is always on the move
6.)Abnormalites in eating or sleeping
7.)Having no apparent fear of dangerous situations.
8.)Does not understand other peoples emotions
9.)Grinding of the teeth
